Circuit and computer work.
We have not accomplished much since the last update. Damion and
Larry have been on vacation so I, Thomas, went to work on designing our
testing computer. This computer will most likely be the flight
computer if it can tolerate the environment. I needed something
with A2D as well as digital outputs. I decided the board with the
CPU should be stand alone with optically isolated outputs and
inputs. Our designs will most likely change and doing this will
keep us from having to make a new computer when we want to add another
solenoid to the system. The CPU will be on a board with the power
regulator and a few other components. The board will have many
headers that connect to the SPI bus. This will allow us to add on
modules. We can add on a A2D module or a digital IO module.
Being able to have multiple A2D modules will let us have different
references if needed as well. This also gives the micro-controller
alot of capabilities compared to using the ports it has built in.
We can even add flash memory to it so that it can log data.
We ordered most of the components. We did get in our IGBTs made
for automotive ignitions but the computer redesign has delayed testing
them. I also need some metal project boxes so that everything is
shielded. We also got in a bigger orifice to test with the
igniter. We will try it with the rest of our Nitrous Oxide but I
ordered the orifice around the properties of oxygen. We just want
to use up what we have of the Nitrous Oxide. That bottle will
work good for the oxygen.
